What is the Amsterdam Music Festival?

The Amsterdam Music Festival, AMF for short, is the stadium event of the Amsterdam Dance Event week. It began in 2013 and is held at the Johan Cruijff ArenA, which co-organises it. The bill is built on big-name DJs from big-room house and dance music.

The 2026 edition was on 24 October. The 2027 date has not been announced, but it falls inside ADE week, which runs from 20 to 24 October 2027. AMF Amsterdam is one night in a stadium, so it suits people who want the big names and the production, and not a weekend in a field.

Which are the best techno festivals in Amsterdam?

DGTL and Dekmantel are the two to plan around if you want an Amsterdam techno festival, and Awakenings Upclose adds a smaller date in May. DGTL, NDSM Docklands

DGTL was founded in 2013 by Apenkooi Events and is held at NDSM Docklands, a former shipyard area on the north bank of the IJ. The 2027 edition is on 26 to 28 March, the first date on this list. It is a short ferry ride from Centraal station.

Dekmantel, Amsterdamse Bos

Dekmantel plays the Amsterdamse Bos, the woodland park on the south edge of the city, and books well beyond techno. The 2026 edition was its 12th. Awakenings Upclose, Houtrak

Awakenings Upclose is the smaller of the two Awakenings festivals, held at Houtrak, a recreation area just west of Amsterdam. The 2027 edition is on 15 and 16 May. The main Awakenings festival is in Hilvarenbeek in July, covered below.

Loveland, Sloterpark

Loveland holds its summer festival in Sloterpark, on the west side of the city. The 2027 edition is on 14 and 15 August.

Lentekabinet, Het Twiske

Lentekabinet is the Dekmantel team's spring festival, held in Het Twiske, a nature area of lakes and meadows at Oostzaan, just north of Amsterdam. The 2027 edition is on 15 and 16 May.

When is the Amsterdam Dance Event?

ADE 2027 is on 20 to 24 October. It is five days of club nights, concerts and a conference, with more than 1,200 events in over 300 locations across the city, and AMF is one of them. Two large Dutch festivals sit within easy reach. Mysteryland returns to Haarlemmermeer, just south-west of the city, on 27 to 29 August 2027, after skipping 2026. • Kingsland. It is held on King's Day at the Olympic Stadium, but its 2026 bill was led by Dutch rap and pop acts, with hardstyle on a second stage.
• Mystic Garden. It was held in Amsterdam, and in 2026 it became a weekender at a new site in Zeewolde.

How to choose.

Pick the kind of day you want first. For a stadium show with the biggest names, choose AMF. For techno and house in a setting worth the trip, choose DGTL or Dekmantel. For a long-running city party, choose Loveland. For the start of spring, choose Lentekabinet or Awakenings Upclose, but not both, because they share a weekend.

Then look at the calendar. March, May, the end of July, August and October each have a reason to come, and ADE week is the busiest time of year for hotels. Check dates with the festival before you book travel.
